Drawing, for the artist, can be a means to an end or an end in itself. As a means, it is a skill the artist uses to record features and phenomena of nature to better understand it and to create a visual memory storehouse for future work. It is a learned skill, involving hand, eye and intellect. This skill can also be used abstractly in designing and composing projects for other mediums. 

 

Drawing is, in itself, a powerful mode of expression, that when matched with appropriate tools and media, can lead to final works that are as expressive and memorable as any other form of art.
